Day 1: Fairfield, CT to Erie, PA

Day 1: Fairfield, CT to Erie, PA
Day 1 - 18 June
State 1: Connecticut
State 2: New York
State 3: New Jersey
State 4: Pennsylvania

Departure - Fairfield, CT
With the minivan packed to its fullest, we left only a few minutes late (5:40 am).

The reason: We couldn't find the keys.

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub - Clearfield, PA
We ordered a 6lbs burger. It was extremely unappetizing. The meat was gristly, and the tomatoes tasted like they had gone bad.
The chef ressembled Rutherford B Hayes. There was a birthday party, and we joined in the singing.
The bar was full, even though it was 11:00 am on a Thursday. I guess folks don't work much here.
I felt ill. My poo was bright green afterwards. Never again. The remains were destined to go to the fish at Linesfield; however, we later decided that the burger was to distasteful to feed to the poor carp.
Overheard at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub: "I said to the rabbi, look bud, I'm not gonna fry yah. Just listen to me."

Punxsutawney, PA
The weather capital of the world, and home to the world's most famous groundhog: Punxsutawney Phil! We met Phil, who was resting peacefully at the Groundhog Zoo in the centre of town. The zoo is actually a part of the library, and the zoo's only resident is Phil himself (or, as far as we could tell).

We also went to see the world's largest groundhog, which was meant to be an enormous plywood groundhog; however, the groundhog was no longer there. So we enjoyed the steel skeleton of the figure for a short while.

We also visited Gobbler's Knob, ground zero on Groundhog's Day, where Phil makes his annual appearance. It was quite an awe-inspiring experience to the say the least.
